Wrap Up Blog Post

Well guys, it’s been fun! I’ve honestly had a lot of fun in this class and learned more than a lot. Every project, whether I’ve used the adobe program or not was a learning experience. I think I would have to say my favorite project was the final premiere project. Although it required the most work, I enjoyed my topic so getting footage for my video wasn’t that bad. What I enjoyed the most about the project though was editing the footage and making it cohesive. In high school, I edited the school news so I had experience with premiere but I have to say it’s so much more enjoyable editing about a topic you actually like. This class honestly just reassured why I want to double major in communications.I think I learned so many transferable skills in this class. Being a fashion major, we have to use most of these programs a lot. Photoshop and Illustrator are our best friends! I think audition and premiere will also definitely come in handy also. Ultimately, in the future I aspire to be a celebrity fashion stylist. Along the way until then I will need to be a designer and have some of the skills learned in the class. Since I find these programs enjoyable I would also like my career to include them. All in all I’m grateful I was able to take this class and learn these skills. While in com 210, I found Google especially useful. It came in handy when I did not know what copyright rules I had to pay attention to and when looking for media that is not copyrighted. I would like to finish by saying thank you to Professor Beam and my very helpful TA Shan Xu!

For my final project I chose to make some minor changes. I kept getting told the music I chose was not following the copyright rules so I did some research and found this instrumental track on a creative commons website. Also I added some new audio transitions to the project. I really liked the idea of behind the scenes of a  photo shoot so I decided to keep that and the definitions of street style.

My project consist of video footage, audio tracks, titles, and effects. I first narrowed down from the many clips I had from the photo shoot. I then had to choose a song that would not take the attention away from the footage but compliment it. After combining the video clips together I added the track behind it. It flowed very well together. Next, I had to choose the best definitions to use for the video. I ended up using the following:

any offbeat or avant-garde fashion inspired by contemporary culture of urban street people

Street Fashion is a type of fashion that is personal to you. It is something that displays your personality but it still highly trendy and cool. It may even be seen as controversial to others.

Street wear is a distinctive style of street fashion. Rooted in West Coast surf and skate culture, it has grown to encompass elements of hip hop fashion, Japanese street fashion, and modern Haute culture fashion.

The photo shoot came about from me simply asking my friends to do a pretend photo shoot. Originally, I was going to have them pretend like they were having a real photo shoot but I came across a friend that is a photographer so the  photo shoot became real. I then had them meet me at the AMDT building(Krugel) because as a fashion major I know we have a photo shoot room. We had a photoshoot and I just checked out a camera to film it.

The idea I came up with to tell a story about my topic was to show footage behind the scenes of a photo shoot. I feel like when anybody thinks about fashion there is an instant fashion show or photo shoot image in their head. So I felt it would only be appropriate to portray a photo shoot and film the action behind the scenes. My topic is street style fashion but not just in general, it kind of has to do with everyone’s different idea of what street style is. Since street style is such a broad category, there are a lot of different definitions that can be used. It’s all about being yourself and being different from others. The way I chose to show my idea was by using different definitions within the video. Even when you just Google “Street Style Fashion” multiple definitions come up because it is not just a word with a steady definition. I chose the top 3 definitions but even then there are many more.

My project consist of video footage, audio tracks, titles, and effects. I first narrowed down from the many clips I had from the photo shoot. I then had to choose a song that would not take the attention away from the footage but compliment it. I chose Fancy by Iggy Azalea. After combining the video clips together I added the track behind it. It flowed very well together. Next, I had to choose the best definitions to use for the video. I ended up using the following:

Final Audio Story

My final audio story came about by thinking of creative questions that describe the topic street style fashion. I first had to think about what questions when asked could tell a story about what street style fashion is. After narrowing down the options, I decided on three questions; What is societies idea of street style fashion?, What is your idea of street style fashion?, and What do you think the difference between fashion and style is? I chose these questions because I feel as if the answers vary depending on who you ask and tell a story because of the different answers.

I first recorded the interviews, then after they were imported into audition I went through and cut out all the mistakes, “um’s”, “like’s”, and bloopers. After receiving feedback from my peers, I also decided to cut out the audio of my asking the  questions because it sounded  more like a documentary/story without the questions. I then added some fade ins and fade outs where necessary. I also added some background music because I thought it fit the story.

Audio Story ROUGH DRAFT

Hey guys, this is my rough draft of the audio story. Its about three minutes long, I didn’t know how long it was supposed to be. So the three questions I chose to ask were: “What do you think society’s idea of street style fashion is?”, “What is YOUR idea of street style fashion?”, and “What do you think the difference between fashion and style is?” I chose these questions because I feel as if most people would have different answers to each one. I think street style has a lot to do with being yourself and having your own definition so I wanted to hear what people thought versus what society portrays it to be. Also, I wanted to hear what people think the difference between fashion and style is because they are different and a lot of people group them together as if they are one thing, which is not the case. I kinda chose the format of the story to be interview like because I feel as if the way its presented tells a story itself. I think the opinons kinda of add to the story. Overall, this is just a rough draft. I do plan to get more creative and maybe add music or something to the background for a more interesting effect.

Final Logo

So, after many trials I’ve decide to completely change my whole logo. Every time I was about to submit this final to angel I thought of a new idea I thought would fit better but I finally came up with this. I went something I could more see on a brand. I kept some of the same concept with the fonts but I changed the whole background idea. I chose to make a wire hanger for the background because most street style clothing is found at thrift stores so I thought making a wire hanger could represent this idea. I think my logo is simple but could be seen on clothing or a brand. The fonts still have the “started from the bottom” concept they had in my rough draft. Overall I think this is a better logo because its more practical and polished. It can be made bigger or made smaller so it fits the criteria of a good logo. I like this look better. First I made the hanger with the pen tool, I then added the fonts and strokes.
